Student, Resident, and Community Physician Poster Competition

All medical students, family medicine residents, and family physicians are invited to submit their family medicine research for presentation at TAFP’s Annual Session & Scientific Assembly each year. The 2014 competition will be held in San Antonio on July 25.

Sponsored by the TAFP Foundation and Commission on Public Health, Clinical Affairs, and Research, TAFP’s annual poster competition provides a showcase for the research of family medicine students, residents, and community physicians. Exhibits are designed to demonstrate a specific research activity, evidence-based review, or case report (students only), with an emphasis on practice-based research.

Members of the Commission on Public Health review applicants’ abstracts before the competition. To be considered for competition, the research must be relevant to family medicine and show a quality of study design, appropriateness of data analysis, and appropriateness of interpretation and conclusion. All entrants must also submit an abstract with their applications that adheres to the guidelines described below.

Eligible posters will be evaluated during TAFP’s Annual Session and Scientific Assembly. They will be displayed prominently in the exhibit hall. Along with the judges, hundreds of Annual Session attendees will read them for the latest research in family medicine. All posters must be set up by 8 a.m. on Friday, remain on display until 4 p.m., and be removed from the exhibit area by noon on Saturday. Researchers do not need to stand by their posters during judging.
