Don’t miss TAFP’s 60th Annual Session and Scientific Assembly, July 15-19, at the Sheraton Arlington Hotel and Arlington Convention Center. This year, your Academy has rolled out the red carpet for some of health care’s biggest champions during this past session of the Texas Legislature.
Senator—and family physician—Bob Deuell, M.D., of Greenville will address the general assembly on Friday morning before a full day of engaging CME. The fact that Sen. Deuell serves as vice chair of both the powerful State Affairs Committee and the Health and Human Services Committee, as well as serving on the Finance Committee, should tell you that this family doctor has his finger on the pulse of health policy in Texas.
If you’re really interested in what went on under the dome this session, make sure you attend the meeting of TAFP’s Commission on Legislative and Public Affairs, from 7-10 p.m., Thursday, July 16. Sen. Wendy Davis of Fort Worth and Rep. Chris Turner of Arlington, along with Rep. Mark Shelton, M.D., a pediatrician from Fort Worth, will be on-hand to talk shop with the group. Come early and enjoy some conversation with your colleagues and our special guests at the annual TAFPPAC reception, starting at 6 p.m.
That’s not all, folks! Attend TAFP’s Awards and Business Lunch on Saturday, July 18, 12:15-1:45 p.m., and help show the Academy’s appreciation for Rep. Warren Chisum of Pampa, Rep. Garnett Coleman of Houston and Rep. José Menendez of San Antonio as they receive awards for their diligent work during the 81st Texas Legislature on behalf of Texas’ patients and physicians.
With such a prestigious lineup, the 24 credits of topnotch CME you can earn, plus the ECG Stress Testing workshop by the National Procedures Institute and the popular Self-education Assessment Module workshop to help you achieve board certification we told you about last week, this is the can’t-miss conference of the year.
Don’t wait to register, though. TAFP’s group hotel rate and the early-bird registration discount expire at the close of business on Monday June 22. Save some money and register today.
