Physicians who treat Medicaid patients could get incentive from HHSC pilot program

The Medicaid Enhanced Care Program, part of the Texas Health and Human Services Commission, has recently launched a new physician incentive pilot. HHSC’s Provider Incentive Pilot offers incentives to physicians who have at least 10 Medicaid beneficiaries as patients who are also eligible for MECP. Providers will be able to receive up to approximately $1,800 from the pilot.
To receive incentive payment, physicians must support and facilitate the enrollment of patients into MECP, locate contact information for eligible patients or complete a chronic care assessment for each eligible beneficiary on their patient roster.
The incentive pilot is limited to Medicaid providers in three Texas regions: Region 4 (Upper-East Texas), Region 7 (Central Texas) and Region 11 (Lower South Texas). To see if your region is eligible, view a map of the Texas Medicaid regions and their associated counties on the HHSC Web site.
MECP was designed in 2004 to help Medicaid beneficiaries better manage chronic illnesses as well as to educate them on how to improve health and wellness. The MECP program serves approximately 42,000 Medicaid clients across Texas.
