Hone your leadership skills at TAFP Leadership and Legislative Conference

Hotel deadline for August conference is July 15

Family medicine and the entire health care system stands at a precipice as the public is increasingly concerned with rising health care costs and congress and Texas leaders have the opportunity to respond with historic changes to our delivery system. To be prepared and engaged for the challenges ahead, attend the 2008 TAFP Leadership and Legislative Conference.

The conference will begin Friday, Aug. 15 with a dinner at Carmelo’s restaurant in downtown Austin with an overview of health care policy and projections for the future. Saturday the group will delve into the specifics in the Bluebonnet room at the Doubletree hotel, working to build attendees’ skills in promoting the medical agenda, working with the media and developing relationships with legislators. We’ll conclude with a mock hearing at the Capitol Saturday afternoon. The registration fee for AAFP/TAFP members is $50.

TAFP has negotiated a special group rate at the Doubletree Guest Suites. The room block is available until July 15. Single or double rate is $149. To make your reservation, go online or contact the Doubletree at (512) 478-7000.

For more information about the conference and to register, go to the TAFP Web site, www.tafp.org/advocacy, or call Kate McCann at (512) 329-8666 ext. 16.
