Keep an eye on your mailbox for the TAFP 2008 Annual Session brochure

Arriving soon to your mailbox, the TAFP Annual Session and Scientific Assembly brochure contains insider’s information on the primer conference for primary care physicians. This year’s conference will be held July 16-20 at the Westin Galleria Houston in Houston, Texas. Earn up to 24 hours of accredited CME, explore products and services in the Exhibit Hall, help form policy to affect the future of family medicine, and have a great time reconnecting with your colleagues. To register, or for information on special events, CME topics and more, go to the Annual Session section of the TAFP Web site.

TAFP encourages attendees to participate in the annual service project Physicians with Heart by making monetary donations to this year’s designated clinic in the host city, the San José clinic in Houston. Make your donation on the Annual Session registration form, bring your donation to the registration desk for TAFP staff to collect, or go to the TAFP Foundation Web site to make your pledge today. All donations will be given to the San José clinic after the conference. Learn more about the clinic and its outreach on the Physicians with Heart section of the TAFP Web site.

Finally, there’s still time to submit an application and abstract to this year’s Student, Resident and Community Physician Poster Competition, sponsored by TAFP’s Commission on Public Health, Clinical Affairs and Research. The posters will be on display outside of the CME classroom at Annual Session on Friday, July 18.

To participate, submit your application and abstract in primary research, case report or evidence-based review by Friday, May 16. A physician panel will review entries and all qualifying participants will be notified of their place in the competition by June 1. Contact Kate McCann at TAFP for more information, (512) 329-8666 ext. 16, or kmccann@tafp.org.
