Educate your patients with AAFP’s personalized “What is a Family Physician?” brochure
posted 05.15.08
To promote the value of family medicine to consumers, policy makers, business decision-makers, payers and other medical providers, AAFP has developed an educational piece for physicians to personalize, print and distribute to all audiences. The four-color “What is a Family Physician” brochure advocates the role of the family physician in treating the whole person, regardless of age or sex.
“In addition to diagnosing and treating acute and chronic diseases, your family physician provides routine health routine health screenings and counseling on lifestyle changes in an effort to prevent illnesses before they develop,” the brochure testifies on the back cover. “And, if a health condition arises that requires care from another specialist, your family physician will be there to guide you and to coordinate all aspects of your care. You and your family physician will work together to achieve the best possible outcome in the most cost-effective manner.”
The brochure is available as a PDF on TAFP’s Web site and online at the AAFP patient Web site, familydoctor.org. Members can purchase print copies through AAFP’s online catalog. Because it is not copyrighted, members can use the text as they wish—online or in their own printed materials. Space on the back of the brochure allows members to add customized information such as the physician’s name or practice name, address, phone, etc. Contact Janelle Davis at jdavis@aafp.org or (800) 274-2237, ext. 5222 with questions.
