Legislature requires umbilical cord blood donation brochure in physician’s offices

A bill passed during the 80th Legislative Session requires all physicians who attend to pregnant women during gestation or at delivery to provide patients with a brochure on umbilical cord blood donation. These brochures, which can be downloaded for free in English or Spanish from the DSHS Web site, must be provided before the third trimester of the woman’s pregnancy or as soon as is reasonably feasible, according to House Bill 709.
