TAFP calls for representatives to AAFP leadership conferences

Each spring, AAFP holds two leadership conferences: the National Conference of Special Constituencies and the Annual Leadership Forum in Kansas City, Mo. At NCSC, representatives gather to discuss various issues and suggest policies and programs to AAFP. ALF provides leadership training for future and current leaders. Recognizing the importance of these two events, TAFP provides scholarships to members interested in attending the conferences.

There are five slots available for NCSC, representing the five special constituencies: New Physicians, Women, Minorities, International Medical Graduates, and GLBT. To be considered one of five NCSC slots, notify Jonathan Nelson at TAFP by Feb. 15, 2008. AAFP will reimburse the five representatives for airfare costs and TAFP will provide up to $700 per representative for hotel, registration and other expenses . There are two additional scholarships to attend NCSC, awarded to a third-year resident and a minority physician.

For more information on the conferences, visit the AAFP Website on NCSC and ALF, or read testimonials from past NCSC and ALF attendees published in the member news section of TEXAS FAMILY PHYSICIAN.
