Family medicine had a great weekend at the Texas Medical Association’s annual conference as several TAFP members were elected to top leadership positions. Past President Doug Curran, M.D., and second-year resident Travis Bias, D.O., join the TMA Board of Trustees, and Mike Ragain, M.D., becomes alternate delegate to AMA.

Loan repayment application deadline extended to June 15, 2010
The Texas Department of State Health Services will accept applications for the new loan repayment program through June 15. Through this program, physicians who agree to practice in the neediest areas of Texas can get up to $160,000 in educational debt relief.

Medical students: Apply for TMLT scholarships
Calling all third- and fourth-year medical students: TMLT invites you to apply for the 2010 TMLT Memorial Scholarship Program. The deadline is June 1, and winners will be chosen in the fall. Four Texas medical students will each be awarded a $10,000 scholarship.

As a part owner and the managing partner of the National Procedures Institute, TAFP is proud to bring the popular NPI Office and Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Workshop to the 61st Annual Session and Scientific Assembly.
