TAFP’s New Physician Webinar features TAFP Chief Operating Officer Kathy McCarthy and Director of Communications Jonathan Nelson as they lead listeners through an informative PowerPoint presentation on the many benefits of Academy membership, plus perks available just for new physicians. Participants who are new physicians in their first year out of residency and who complete a survey at the end received a rebate on their 2012 Active Member dues.

The I Am A Family Doctor video features Texas family physicians in a variety of practice settings dispelling some of the myths about the specialty. Several short video segments delve further into their stories. It speaks to medical students, pre-med students, and anyone interested in becoming a physician, asking them to consider a career in family medicine. Medical Home For All video series
The patient-centered medical home is a health care delivery model based on the relationship between a patient and their personal primary care physician. The physician leads a health care delivery team dedicated to providing comprehensive and continuous care. TAFP produced a series of videos on the importance and benefits of the patient-centered medical home from the view of physicians, employers, patients, and business leaders. There are four main videos and many shorter videos. All can be found on MedicalHomeForAll.com.

Academy in Action
Academy in Action takes advocacy to the national level, raising the specialty’s image in Washington D.C. among federal lawmakers and making the concerns of family medicine heard around the country. TAFP’s Director of Communication Jonathan Nelson reports for six states: Texas, New Jersey, California, Pennsylvania, Illinois, and Georgia.
