Order free childhood obesity DVDs from DSHS and AHRQ

The Department of Health and Human Services and the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality worked with Discovery Networks, U.S., to develop two DVD programs.

“Childhood Obesity: Combating the Epidemic” addresses the physician’s role in preventing and treating childhood obesity. The DVD covers screening and counseling for families, treatment for obese or overweight children, provides clinical tools and tips for initiating behavior change in pediatric patients, and contains educational materials eligible for CME. DSHS recommends physicians use the clinician DVD as a personal education resource as well as a resource to share and educate children and their families.

“Max’s Magical Delivery: Fit for Kids” targets children ages 5-9 and their families, encouraging them to eat five servings of fruits and vegetables and incorporate more active inside and outside activities into their lives to replace inactive TV and computer time.

Order one free copy of each DVD, “Childhood Obesity: Combating the Epidemic” or “Max’s Magical Delivery: Fit for Kids,” using the online order forms, or by calling the AHRQ Publications Clearinghouse at ( 800) 358-9295 .
