Observe Brain Injury Awareness Month by supporting helmet safety

Sign up for Hard Hats for Little Heads

Help prevent head injuries among youth in your area by coordinating a Hard Hats for Little Heads event. Through the Texas Medical Association’s Hard Hats program, physicians order up to 100 helmets to distribute at a community fair, through a school safety demonstration or at an event at their clinic. During previous events, physician participants have teamed up with their practice partners, local businesses, police departments, fire departments or teachers.

Holding a Hard Hats event can be completely free for TMA/TAFP members. TMA covers the cost of up to 50 helmets for TMA members and TAFP, for TAFP members only, will buy up to an additional 50 standard helmets.

If ordered now, physicians can hold an event in October during Brain Injury Awareness Month. Contact Hard Hats coordinator Tammy Wishard at (512) 331-6336 or hardhats@texmed.org. Read more about the program on TAFP’s Hard Hats Web site. Find more information, program materials and event ideas on TMA’s Hard Hats Web site.
