New Medicare fee calculator available from AAFP

The final rule on the Medicare physician fee schedule, released by the Centers of Medicare and Medicaid on November 1, included a recommended increase in the work value of evaluation and management services. To help calculate how the increase will change family physicians’ Medicare income, the American Academy of Family Physicians Practice support Division has updated its interactive online calculation tool.

Through a spreadsheet format, the E/M Impact Tool allows users to enter their own data to see payment allowances and calculate revenue changes between 2006 and 2007. Read the December 13 AAFP News Now story for more information on how to use this tool.
