Donate to the Physicians with Heart annual service project

TAFP’s Physicians with Heart program is:

  • An annual service project modeled after the national AAFP Foundation Physicians with Heart Program,
  • Sponsored by the TAFP Foundation and TAFP’s Section on Special Constituencies, and
  • A way for TAFP members to give tax-deductible donations to a designated free clinic in the Annual Session host city.

The Physicians with Heart Program, an annual service project occurring in conjunction with TAFP’s Annual Session and Scientific Assembly, brings together the resources of 5,500 family physicians, family medicine residents and students to benefit a designated clinic in the Annual Session host city. The program is sponsored by the Section on Special Constituencies and supported by the TAFP Foundation.

For the 2008 Annual Session and Scientific Assembly, collected donations will benefit the San José Clinic in Houston. For more than 86 years, San José Clinic has provided health care, dental care, social services and health education to individuals and families who struggle to access affordable, quality health care.

San José Clinic has grown into a leading provider of health care services to low-income, uninsured individuals and families in the Greater-Houston area. It is a safety net for people who do not qualify for Medicare or Medicaid and either cannot afford health insurance, or their employers simply do not offer it. Clinic services are provided on a sliding scale basis. Read more about San José Clinic on their Web site, www.sanjoseclinic.org.

In 2007, collected donations benefited the Gabbard Health Program at the Corpus Christi Metro Ministries.

Visit the TAFP Foundation page and select "Physicians with Heart ASSA 08" from the drop down menu on the online donation form or enter your Physicians with Heart donation on the Annual Session registration form.

Thank you for your generosity in supporting Physicians with Heart.
