The TAFP Foundation supports the educational efforts of medical students and family medicine residents.

Students

The Foundation generously provides funding for Family Medicine Interest Groups (student associations) at Texas medical schools, and provides funding for students to attend the TAFP Annual Session and Scientific Assembly, the National Conference of Student Members and TAFP’s Interim Session. Residents

The Texas Academy of Family Physicians provides up to $500 per residency program for travel funding each year to encourage residents to attend TAFP Interim and Annual Sessions. Contact Juleah Williams for more information.

Scholarships

TAFP Foundation Scholarships must accrue $25,000 before they are considered fully funded and can be awarded. The following scholarships are still in the fundraising stage:

The TAFP Minority Medical Student Scholarship — This scholarship is soliciting donations that will be matched by the TAFP Foundation from their general funds until the scholarship is fully funded ($25,000). Once funded, this scholarship will benefit underrepresented minorities who are interested in family medicine, excel academically and are in their third year of medical school in Texas.
The Edwin L. Mueller, MD, Scholarship, established by the Alamo Chapter of TAFP, will be awarded to a third year medical student in the San Antonio area who meets certain criteria and plans a career in family medicine.
The Henry J. Boehm, Jr., MD, scholarship will benefit residents at the Brazos Valley Family Medicine Residency program in Bryan. The scholarship honors the career of Henry J. Boehm, Jr., MD, of Brenham, Texas.
