LEGISLATIVE ALERT: MEDICAID ICM MODEL IN DANGER

Act now to implement Medicaid Integrated Care Management model

The Integrated Care Management (ICM) model for Medicaid legislation ─ House Bill 1771, and accompanying budget rider, are in peril. To save this important piece of legislation please call Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst immediately and ask him to:

  • Advance HB 1771 by Rep. Dianne Delisi (R-Temple) and Sen. Jane Nelson (R- Lewisville) to establish ICM in the state’s urban areas, and

  • Support the ICM appropriations rider.

Without support from the Lieutenant Governor, ICM will die in the Senate.  Please contact Lieutenant Governor Dewhurst today and ask him to support the ICM model.

Conference Committee Set for Tax Bill Deliberations

Contact conferees, ask that they maintain credits for physicians

Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst has appointed the Senate conferees for the conference committee that will hammer out differences between the House and Senate versions of HB 3, the tax bill. As it stands, both versions of the bill contain credits for physicians who care for Medicaid and CHIP patients. TAFP along with the Texas Primary Care Coalition is working to ensure that those credits stay in the final legislation.

The Primary Care Coalition recently sent a letter to the conferees stressing the need for the credits. You can use the model to call, fax or e-mail a similar message.
