Free CME satellite dinner symposium by UT Southwestern
Thursday, July 22 | 5 - 7:30 p.m.
Earn 2.5 CME credits through a joint sponsorship program with the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. "Recent Therapeutic Advances in Cardiovascular Risk Management: Implications for Family Physicians" will address advances in our understanding of the pathopthysiology and management of cardiovascular risk factors in a primary care clinical setting. Space is limited and available on a first come, first served basis starting at 4:30 p.m. on the day of the event. The event will be held in the Hildago ballroom of the Westin Riverwalk Hotel. The Exhibit Hall is where physicians have the opportunity to learn about new products and services in the health care field, interact with professionals in all facets of health care, and receive valuable information on the latest advancements in medicine. While in the Exhibit Hall, don’t forget to thank our exhibitors for supporting TAFP’s 61st Annual Session and Scientific Assembly. The exhibit hall is conveniently located directly below the CME general session ballroom at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center and is accessible via both elevator and escalator.

Breakfast with Exhibitors
Friday, July 23 | 6:30 - 8 a.m.
This is where it all begins! Over 70 exhibitors from the medical industry will be on-hand to show you the newest products and services available. Enjoy great food while visiting with exhibitors and filling out your treasure hunt card for great prizes. In addition to a hearty breakfast buffet, this is your first chance to visit with our exhibitors in the Exhibit Hall. Plus, TAFP Foundation’s Board of Trustees will be on hand to help serve breakfast and to answer any questions about the Foundation’s activities.

Student, Resident and Community Physician Research Poster Competition
Friday, July 23 | 8 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Encourage family medicine research as students, residents and community physicians display the latest in research and teaching findings through poster panel displays in three categories: primary research, case report and evidence-based review. Awards will be given in various categories. Researchers will be on hand throughout the conference to discuss their projects. Be sure to check them out in the Exhibit Hall all day on Friday! Council of Past Presidents Lunch
Friday, July 23 | 11:45 a.m. - 1 p.m.
TAFP’s past presidents will have a chance to reminisce about the past and discuss the future of TAFP. This event is complimentary to TAFP’s past presidents and their spouses only. Pre-registration is necessary.

SMAC Breakfast
Saturday, July 24 | 8 - 9 a.m.
If you graduated from medical school before 1970 and you are a TAFP member, this breakfast is especially for you. Enjoy time with old friends and colleagues. Breakfast is complimentary for SMAC physicians and tickets for guests may be purchased for $25. Pre-registration is necessary.

Members’ Reception
Saturday, July 24 | 5:30 - 6:45 p.m.
TAFP welcomes all new physicians, special constituency physicians, students and residents, and the 2010 TAFP award recipients to meet and mingle with the family medicine family. There is no cost to attend the reception but pre-registration is encouraged.

President’s Gala
Saturday, July 24 | 7 - 10 p.m.
Commemorate TAFP’s new leaders at the annual President’s Gala being held at the Conservatory Courtyard of the beautiful San Antonio Botanical Gardens. Tour the 33-acre gardens which include an old-fashioned garden, fragrant rose garden, unique sensory garden for the blind, the Japanese Garden gifted from Kumamoto Japan, and the beautiful Sacred Garden.  Enjoy a fabulous al fresco catered dinner and musical entertainment under the big Texas sky and extend congratulatory sentiment for outgoing President Ashok Kumar, M.D. and incoming president Melissa Gerdes, M.D. Garden party attire (guys: khakis and polos, ladies: sundresses and sandals). Shaded areas and fans are available.

Physicians With Heart Program
TAFP encourages attendees to donate to a designated charity clinic in the host city. This year’s donations will benefit the Faith Family Clinic in San Antonio. Make your donation on the Annual Session registration form, on the Foundation website or bring your donation to the registration desk for TAFP staff to collect.
