The California Academy of Family Physicians presents:

A Clinical Conversation: Redefining the Hospice and Palliative Care Patient in Primary Care

Click here to go to the event.

People are living longer with many chronic and advanced illnesses. Palliative care was specifically designed to provide continuity of care and a level of coordination that responds to the episodic and long-term nature of these illnesses. Palliative care focuses on relieving pain and suffering, improving communication with patients and families, and informed decision-making regardless of prognosis or eligibility for hospice care.

This online activity has been designed to assist family physicians, other primary care physicians, and their team members in redefining their approach to patients in the palliative and hospice care setting.  The California Academy of Family Physicians designates this educational activity for a maximum of 1 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™.  This activity has been reviewed and is acceptable for up to 1 Prescribed credit by the American Academy of Family Physicians. AAFP accreditation begins Nov. 8, 2010. Term of approval is one year from this date.

The California Academy of Family Physicians presents:

Listening to the Voices: Patient Perspectives on Bladder Problems

Click here to go to the event.

More than 33 million people suffer from problems related to overactive bladder (OAB). Patients believe that leaking urine is just a normal part of aging and are embarrassed to discuss what they perceive to be personal hygiene issues. They would rather live with the consequences than talk to their health care clinician. In turn, clinicians are reluctant to screen for OAB, as they believe treatment risks outweigh the benefits or are ineffective.

This online activity has been designed to assist family physicians, other primary care physicians, OB-GYN, urologists, and their team members in understanding the impact of OAB on patients, screening and diagnosing for urinary disorders including OAB, and providing appropriate behavioral and pharmacologic treatment options. The California Academy of Family Physicians designates this educational activity for a maximum of 1 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™. This activity has been reviewed and is acceptable for up to 1 Prescribed credit by the American Academy of Family Physicians. AAFP accreditation begins Oct. 10, 2010. Term of approval is one year from this date.
