Christopher Crow, MD, MBA
Dr. Crow is the president of Village Health Partners, a multispecialty practice located in Plano, Texas. Under his leadership and business prowess, Village Health Partners has received national acclaim for its focus on quality, patient satisfaction, and health information technology. The practice is certified by the National Center for Quality Assurance as a tier-3 patient-centered medical home, the highest certification available. Dr. Crow is also founder of Legacy Medical Village, a state-of-the-art complex that encompasses Village Health Partners, specialty practices, and ancillary facilities offering patients one-stop comprehensive health care.

Melissa Gerdes, MD
Dr. Gerdes is a practicing physician at Methodist Mansfield Medical Center. She also serves as the Assistant Vice President and Chief Medical Officer of Outpatient Services and Accountable Care Organization Strategy. She formerly served as medical director of Trinity Clinic in Whitehouse, Texas, and as a staff physician of family medicine at Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler, Texas. In addition, she served as a staff physician at the East Texas Medical Center and as the associate professor of medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Tyler.

Roland A. Goertz, MD, MBA
Dr. Goertz currently serves as board chair of the American Academy of Family Physicians. He concluded his term as AAFP presdient in September 2010. In his 26-year medical career, he has served as a physician in rural private practice, a family medicine residency program director at two highly regarded Texas residencies, and chair of the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the University of Texas Medical School – Houston. For the past 14 years, Dr. Goertz has served as CEO of the three foundations that oversee all operations of the Waco Family Health Center, which operates a family medicine residency program and provides care to more than 50,000 patients in McLennan County, Texas.

Mark Laitos, MD
Dr. Laitos is the immediate past president of the Colorado Medical Society. He founded Longs Peak Family Practice and has practiced there since 1983. Dr. Laitos received his medical degree from the University of Colorado School of Medicine (Denver) and completed a family medicine residency at the University of Utah hospitals, where he was chief resident. He is passionate about family medicine and particularly enjoys providing medical care to newborns and children, and in helping his patients maintain their medical and emotional health.

W. Mike McCrady, MD
Dr. McCrady is a family medicine hospitalist and vice president and medical director of clinical operations for the Trinity Mother Frances Health System. Previously, he practiced small-group family medicine in Henderson for 24 years and served as the Trinity Clinic’s associate medical director for regional development. Dr. McCrady received his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical School Houston and completed his residency at St. Paul Medical Center and Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas.

Gary Piefer, MD
Dr. Piefer is the chief medical officer of WellMed, a group of affiliated companies founded in San Antonio that includes an employed physician group, a health plan, a transportation company, and a disease management company. As CMO, Dr. Piefer is responsible for medical management, development, and implementation of a chronic care delivery model. He oversees development of the complex case management program and inpatient hospitalist program, and quality improvement programs for management of chronic disease.

Eduardo Sanchez, MD, MPH
Dr. Sanchez is vice president and chief medical officer for BlueCross BlueShield of Texas. In previous positions, he has served as director of the Institute for Health Policy at The University of Texas School of Public Health, as commissioner of the Texas Department of State Health Services, and as the city/county local health officer and CMO for the Austin-Travis County Health and Human Services Department. Dr. Sanchez practiced family medicine in Austin for nearly a decade.

Gregory Sheff, MD
Dr. Sheff is the medical director of the Austin Regional Clinic’s Patient Centered Medical Home Project. ARC is one of five physician groups in the state participating in the multi-year pilot administered by BlueCross and BlueShield of Texas; their program serves 45,000 patients, including both the Employees Retirement System and BCBSTX fully-insured populations. He was awarded his medical degree by the University of New Mexico School of Medicine in Albuquerque, and completed a family medicine residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio.
