Jim and Karen White Scholarship Created

Longtime TAFP Executive Director and former TAFP Foundation Executive Director, Jim White is retiring at the end of the year. Current and past leaders of TAFP gathered during the TAFP Annual Session in Corpus Christi to celebrate Jim’s 25-year career with TAFP and to raise funds for the Jim and Karen White Leadership Scholarship. A special thank you to all the generous supporters of this new scholarship, especially Texas Medical Liability Trust and Texas Medical Association for their sponsorship of the dinner.

Minority Scholarship Created

The TAFP Foundation is pleased to announce the creation of the TAFP Minority Medical Student Scholarship. This scholarship is soliciting donations that will be matched by the TAFP Foundation from their general funds until the scholarship is fully funded ($25,000). Once funded, this scholarship will benefit underrepresented minorities who are interested in family medicine, excel academically and are in their third year of medical school in Texas.  Click here for more information.

MISSION STATEMENT:
The Texas Academy of Family Physicians Foundation supports educational and scientific initiatives for the specialty of Family Practice to improve the health of all Americans.

GOALS OF TAFP FOUNDATION
The TAFP Foundation was organized in 1960 with the primary intent to support educational programs of the Academy. This important cornerstone has been built upon, and today the charge of the Foundation is to raise and distribute funds for: medical student scholarships for students planning to pursue a career in Family Medicine; to fund Family Medicine office based research; to fund Family Medicine student interest group activities at medical schools in Texas; and to fund Family Medicine resident activities.
